Description The Chemist will primarily work with ICP-MS, ICP,
Mercury Analyzers, and Atomic Absorption instruments. This role
requires a high level of proficiency in operating and
troubleshooting ICP-MS. The Chemist will conduct analyses in
compliance with EPA 200.7/6010 and/or EPA 200.8/6020 standards,
adhering to TNI regulations. Responsibilities include managing
sample processing and scheduling tests to maintain holding times
and company-defined turnaround times within the metals department.
Responsibilities Perform and document daily standardization,
calibration, and performance verifications on ICP and ICP/MS.
Complete daily run data by batch, including supporting data
packets. Utilize computer software to prioritize work, track
samples, acquire data, perform calculations and statistical
analysis, and store data to meet established deadlines. Conduct
review of analytical sample preparation data, checking for
completeness, calculation accuracy, and data quality coherence.
Perform and interpret required QA/QC procedures; recommend,
perform, and document corrective actions and possible impacts to
data quality. Troubleshoot instrument problems, perform routine
maintenance, and consult with vendor technicians when necessary.
Demonstrate proactive commitment and adherence to industry and
company safety regulations and procedures. Manage completion of
regular training and demonstration of capabilities for staff
according to quality policies under the direction of the QA
department. Ensure investigation reports and internal/external
audit findings are completed on time. Manage inventory needs,
assist in ordering supplies, and maintain stock of necessary
components, supplies, standards, and reagents. Train coworkers in
sample preparation and analysis, instrument operation and
maintenance, troubleshooting techniques, and data quality objective
adherence. Provide feedback to the Lab Manager, Quality Assurance
Manager, and/or Project Managers about analysis, data, or other
issues. Ensure department-specific Standard Operating Procedures
are reviewed and updated on time. Process electronic data using
procedures that ensure data integrity and security. Dispose of
laboratory waste as needed, following stringent disposal
guidelines. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in ICP-MS/ICP
operation and troubleshooting. 3 years of ICP-MS experience.
Bachelor's degree required. Strong computer skills for training on
specific software programs. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in equipment verification, analytical sample
preparation, and quality control. Ability to manage inventory and
assist in ordering supplies. Experience in training coworkers on
various laboratory processes. Work Environment The work environment
is a high throughput lab, not R&D based, with the metals lab
being the fastest growing department currently. The facility is
newly remodeled, spanning 20,000 square feet, and is known for its
cleanliness and beauty. The company has quadrupled in size in the
last three years and is family-owned, valuing its employees and
fostering a great work culture. Job Type & Location This is a
Permanent position based out of Burnsville, MN. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $70000.00/yr. Access
to the company's internal benefits, PTO structure, 401k, etc.
