Nutrition Services Coordinator Job Specifications Factor Level EDUCATION Registered Dietitian JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE 5 Years SUPERVISION GIVEN 1.6 FTE SUPERVISION RECEIVED Executive Director WAGE STARTS $52,208 BENEFITS "All" with a regular schedule of 30+ hours per week Job Summary: The Nutrition Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Nutrition Services for Early Head Start and Head Start children and families, promoting optimum child and family nutrition. Essential Functions and Duties: Develops, organizes and implements Nutrition Services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. Works with the Health Advisory Committee and the Early Childhood Development and Health Services Advisory Committee to plan services, revise the plan and develop annual objectives. Oversees the collection of nutrition information to identify the nutrition status of Early Head Start and Head Start children and their families. Works with the Early Childhood Development and Health Services and the Management Teams and other staff to implement nutrition services for Head Start and Early Head Start families. Oversees and supervises Nutrition Services.Works with the Food Services staff to maintain compliance with all regulations. Works with the Food Services Technician in menu and special diet needs planning. Participates in the hiring process for the Nutrition staff and supervises the Food Service Technicians. Coordinates the Child and Adult Care Food Program, submits all necessary reports and reimbursement forms, and monitors all sites as required.Provides periodic updates through semi-annual reports, Program Information Report and average monthly attendance.Responsible as the primary management team person to represent the agency at the three year comprehensive reviews of the Child and Adult Care Food Program conducted by Reviewers from the Minnesota Dept. of Education Food and Nutrition Service. Plans and implements the nutrition education program with staff, families and their children. Responsible for all nutrition purchase requisitions. Provides nutrition counseling for families and refers and follows-up as needed to community resources.Works with community programs. Works with families to assure their involvement in nutrition services and Reach-Up Inc. programs. Maintains a positive work environment by performing and communicating in a professional manner with children, families, co-workers and supervisors. Skills and Education: Dietitian who qualifies according to Federal Head Start Performance Standards and two years of experience in child nutrition programs. Knowledge of child development and growth, the Child Care and Adult Food Care Program, and all nutrition regulations. Knowledge of community resources and referral agencies. Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, solve problems and provide leadership. Supervisory, organizational and management skills. Computer skills and familiarity with software programs. Ability to provide own transportation, with 100,000/300,000 liability limits for bodily injury, underinsured motorist and uninsured motorist. Tools and Materials Used: The manual dexterity to operate typical office equipment and a vehicle. Physical Demands: The physical dexterity necessary to use a computer and sit at a desk for extended time periods.
