Job Description:
Mayo Clinic, a leader in medical care, research, and education,
is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant specialized in
Gastroenterology to join our committed team. This role is pivotal
in providing top-tier health support and services aligned with our
mission of delivering expert, whole-person care. As a Medical
Assistant in Gastroenterology, you will work closely with top
healthcare professionals to aid in the treatment and management of
patients' digestive health, ensuring efficient operation of the
gastroenterology department through both administrative and
clinical tasks. Assist gastroenterologists during examinations and
procedures, ensuring patient comfort and compliance with all safety
standards. Prepare patients for examination, explaining treatment
procedures and addressing patient concerns. Record patient history
and personal information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Schedule and manage patient appointments and follow-ups. Monitor
and maintain medical equipment and inventory. Perform basic
laboratory tests and administer medications as directed by the
physician. Handle administrative duties such as billing, coding,
and insurance claims as required. Educate patients on treatment
plans and dietary adjustments. Strong knowledge of medical
terminology, especially related to gastroenterology. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in electronic
medical records (EMR) systems. Ability to perform clinical tasks
including phlebotomy, EKG, and administering injections. Strong
organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k Certified
Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical
Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the
American Medical Technologists. Basic Life Support (BLS) or
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
